Baseball teams prepare for 2026-27 seasons in Dominican Republic and Venezuela
Professional baseball teams in the Dominican Republic and Venezuela are finalizing preparations for the 2026-27 seasons.
In the Dominican Republic, the Leones del Escogido announced they will begin official training on September 25 at the New York Yankees academy in Boca Chica. The defending champions have strengthened their roster through free agency and trades, adding players such as Michael De la Cruz, Radhamés Liz, and Vidal Bruján. Their season opener is scheduled for October 16 against Tigres del Licey.
In Venezuela's LVBP, several teams have announced technical staff and roster movements. Águilas del Zulia will be led by manager Guillermo Quiroz, supported by a staff including Carlos Maldonado and Alex Romero. Caribes de Anzoátegui will retain manager Asdrubal Cabrera and his existing coaching team.
Regarding roster construction, teams are utilizing import quotas differently. Caribes de Anzoátegui and Bravos de Margarita have focused on position players, while Navegantes del Magallanes has prioritized pitching, announcing six imported pitchers to strengthen their rotation.
