Guilherme de Oliveira overcomes cerebral palsy through adaptive jiu-jitsu
Guilherme de Oliveira, a 24-year-old with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, has been training in adaptive jiu-jitsu for over three years in Itaguaí, Brazil. A blue belt, Oliveira has participated in three championships.
Through the inclusive jiu-jitsu program at the social project Itaguaí Ação Esporte Inclusão, supported by the local government, Oliveira works with instructor André Seabra. Beyond competitive achievements, the training has provided significant physical milestones, such as the ability to stand and walk with support during sessions.
The program adapts exercises to the mobility of participants, focusing on stimulating movement while respecting the neurological limitations caused by his condition.
