Guillaume Restes reflects on French national team debut

Toulouse FC goalkeeper Guillaume Restes has reflected on his recent call-up to the French national team. The 22-year-old made his debut in a match against Belgium under the management of Zinedine Zidane.

Restes, who is the youngest goalkeeper to play for the national team since 1973, shared that he originally aspired to be an attacking player like Lionel Messi. However, due to a lack of technical skills for that role, he transitioned to goalkeeping. During his selection, he received guidance from Fabien Barthez and noted Mike Maignan as a professional role model.

Restes expressed significant pride in representing France at the Stade de France in front of his family and friends.
