Guillermo Barros Schelotto expresses uncertainty regarding Vélez Sarsfield future

Vélez Sarsfield manager Guillermo Barros Schelotto has cast doubt on his long-term future with the club, stating that while his current contract runs until December, his continuity beyond that date remains uncertain.

Speaking about his tenure, Barros Schelotto noted that he intends to respect his current commitment but emphasized that discussions with club leadership are necessary to reach an agreement for the future. He mentioned that upcoming club elections on November 15 will play a role in these negotiations.

Regarding interest from other clubs, the manager revealed he had received inquiries from Racing Club prior to joining Vélez, but clarified that he has not been contacted by them since taking his current position. He also acknowledged receiving other professional opportunities throughout the year.

When asked about a potential return to Boca Juniors, Barros Schelotto remained non-committal, stating, “I don’t know where the story will end, it could be so, it could not be.”

Vélez Sarsfield is currently performing strongly in the Torneo Clausura, sitting in second place in Zone A and maintaining a competitive position in the annual table, which could secure qualification for the 2027 Copa Libertadores.
