Guillermo Defranco launches debut novel in City Bell, Argentina

Journalist and writer Guillermo Defranco will present his first work of fiction, the novel “Ya nunca me verás como me vieras,” on 5 August in his hometown of City Bell, Argentina. The book follows a protagonist who returns to his village after forty years to find it transformed, exploring themes of collective identity loss, nostalgia, and the clash between old traditions and new realities. Defranco says the story is set in the area between Gonnet and Villa Elisa and reflects his own experience of returning to a place that no longer resembles its past.

Defranco, previously known for five chronicles and essays, began the novel after a sleepless night, writing the first seventeen pages in a burst of inspiration. He describes the work as a blend of everyday dialogue and existential reflection, aiming to capture the feeling of a “pueblo lindo” that persists despite change.
