Guillermo Maripán faces potential six-game suspension

Internacional defender Guillermo Maripán and goalkeeper coach Rogério Maia are scheduled to be judged by the Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva (STJD) on Monday. The disciplinary actions stem from incidents during a 1-0 victory over Coritiba on November 3.

Maripán faces two separate charges under the Brazilian Code of Sports Justice: article 258-B, regarding pitch invasion, and article 250, concerning unfair or inconvenient conduct. Each charge carries a potential suspension of one to three matches. If the maximum penalties are applied to both counts, Maripán could be suspended for up to six games.

The incident occurred during celebrations following a late penalty goal. Maripán reportedly entered the field from the bench and engaged in a hostile and provocative confrontation with Coritiba players, resulting in a direct red card. He is already serving an automatic suspension for the upcoming match against Vasco, and a harsher ruling could prevent him from playing the remainder of the season.
