Guillermo Maripán signs with Brazil's Internacional as Colombian keeper José Luis Chunga eyes Bogotá move

Chile international defender Guillermo Maripán, 32, completed a move back to South America by signing a contract with Brazilian club Internacional of Porto Alegre that runs until the end of 2028. The former Torino and European‑league centre‑back ends a nine‑year spell in Europe, bringing leadership to an Inter side currently 14th in the Brasileirão and preparing for a Copa do Brasil round‑of‑16 tie.

Colombian goalkeeper José Luis Chunga, 35, terminated his contract with Deportivo Independiente Medellín and is in advanced talks to join Inter de Bogotá for the second half of 2026. Medical reports confirm he has fully recovered from a recent injury, and the club values his experience and leadership. Other Colombian teams, including Once Caldas, have shown interest, but Chunga appears to favor the Bogotá project.

Both moves highlight ongoing activity in the South American football transfer market as clubs seek experienced players to bolster their squads.
