Guillermo Montenegro resigns from Buenos Aires Senate

Senator Guillermo Montenegro has announced his resignation from the Buenos Aires Province Senate to return to his role as the mayor of Mar del Plata. This departure has triggered an internal dispute within the La Libertad Avanza party regarding who will fill the vacant seat.

While the legislative list for the fifth electoral section suggests María Luján Fiego should take the position, there is growing support for Mariano Valiante. National Deputy Sebastián Pareja is reportedly favoring Valiante, using the principle of gender parity as a justification to bypass Fiego, who held the fourth spot on the electoral list. If a replacement is sworn in, the La Libertad Avanza bloc will increase to 11 senators in the provincial chamber.
