Guillermo Ochoa bows out of Mexico's World Cup squad after Czech win

Mexico’s veteran goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa made his final appearance for the national team in the World Cup group match against the Czech Republic. At 40 years old, the 154‑cap keeper entered the game in the 78th minute, helping Mexico secure a 3‑0 victory and ending his international career on a high note.

Ochoa’s career spanned six World Cups, making him only the third player – alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo – to appear at six tournaments. He became the oldest Mexican player to feature at a World Cup, joining a small elite of long‑serving keepers worldwide. After the final whistle, he was visibly emotional, kneeling and kissing the stadium arches, thanking fans, teammates and coach Javier Aguirre for the support.
