Guillermo Ochoa discusses near-miss joining Pumas

Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa revealed that he was nearly a player for Pumas UNAM instead of Club América during his childhood. While moderating the Billboard Latin awards, Ochoa explained that his decision was based on scheduling conflicts.

Ochoa noted that when he moved to Mexico City at age 10, he sought out football training. He was unable to join the Pumas academy because their sessions began at 3:30 PM, which did not align with his school dismissal time. Because Club América’s training sessions started 30 minutes later, at 4:00 PM, he enrolled there instead, eventually becoming a key figure for the club.
