Guinea and DRC launch inspections of private health facilities amid safety concerns

The Guinean Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene announced that multidisciplinary teams will be deployed from 27 July 2026 to audit private clinics, pharmacies and other health establishments nationwide. The operation, overseen by Health Minister Khaïté Sall, will verify administrative and technical compliance, requiring facilities to present licences, staff credentials and other mandated documents, with non‑compliance subject to administrative or legal sanctions.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s North Kivu province, health coordinator Prisca Luanda Kamala urged private health structures in Butembo, Musienene and Katwa to strictly follow sector standards amid a resurgence of Ebola, reporting about 275 confirmed cases and 172 deaths. She called for prompt reporting of alerts, cooperation with response teams, and warned against retaining suspected Ebola patients in facilities to prevent further transmission. Both initiatives aim to strengthen patient safety and enforce regulatory standards in the private health sector.
