Guinea and RUSAL discuss Simandou 2040 mining program

Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya met with a delegation from the Russian company RUSAL to discuss the Simandou 2040 program. The meeting, which included Russian Ambassador Alexey V. Popov, focused on the local transformation of Guinea's mineral resources to increase economic value and industrial development.

President Doumbouya emphasized that moving beyond simple extraction and export toward domestic processing is a strategic and irreversible priority. He noted that the construction of three alumina refineries is currently underway, and a gold refinery has been completed.

RUSAL expressed interest in contributing to the priorities of the Simandou 2040 program and requested government support to facilitate its planned investments in Guinea's mining and industrial sectors.
