Guinea and Russia strengthen scientific and diplomatic ties

Guinea and Russia are strengthening their bilateral ties, transitioning from emergency humanitarian aid to long-term scientific and medical cooperation. This evolution follows significant Russian support during the 2014 Ebola outbreak, where mobile laboratories and epidemiological brigades were deployed to assist Guinea.

A key pillar of this partnership is the Russo-Guinean Center for Epidemiology and Infectious Disease Prevention in Kindia. Established following infrastructure developments by RUSAL, the center serves as a permanent facility for scientific research and knowledge transfer.

In a related diplomatic development, President Mamadi Doumbouya has appointed Dr. Mohamed Keïta as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Guinea to the Russian Federation. Dr. Keïta, who previously served in this role and studied in Russia, is expected to leverage his expertise to further consolidate the strategic partnership between the two nations.
