Guinea appoints Djénabou Touré as Minister of Territorial Administration

Djénabou Touré was officially installed as Guinea’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization (MATD) on 31 July 2026 after being named to the post on 27 July. The hand‑over ceremony took place in Kaloum, Conakry, and was attended by outgoing minister Ibrahima Kalil Condé.

Touré, formerly director‑general of the General Directorate of Elections, thanked President Mamadi Doumbouya, the Guinean people and civil‑society organisations for their support. She outlined three priority areas for the ministry: transferring competencies to local authorities, fostering grassroots development, and restoring the authority of the state. In her inaugural speech she emphasized that decentralisation must become a powerful tool for economic, social and human development, and pledged special attention to women, youth and vulnerable groups.

The new minister also pledged to work closely with the prime minister and other government members to modernise civil‑registration, improve territorial information systems and promote social cohesion and peace across the country.
