Guinea authorizes Kassory Fofana and Damaro Camara to travel for medical care

The Special Prosecutor of the Court for the Repression of Economic and Financial Offenses (CRIEF) in Guinea has authorized former Prime Minister Ibrahima Kassory Fofana and former National Assembly President Amadou Damaro Camara to travel abroad for medical treatment.

Special Prosecutor Alphonse Charles Wright issued the decision, instructing the Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport Commissioner and the Central Director of Border Police to facilitate their departure. The authorization is granted specifically for health reasons and does not affect the ongoing judicial proceedings against either individual.

Ibrahima Kassory Fofana, who is facing charges related to illicit enrichment and money laundering, was previously sentenced on appeal to three years and nine months in prison. Amadou Damaro Camara, who received an appellate sentence of three years and six months, reportedly committed to returning to Guinea to remain available to the justice system.
