Guinea celebrates 68th anniversary of independence

Citizens across Guinea, including in the Labé and Ratoma-Bonfi sectors, celebrated the 68th anniversary of the country's independence.

In Labé, festivities at the Place des Martyrs included administrative authorities, civil society representatives, and security forces. The celebrations were part of an independence week that featured community sanitation and beautification projects. Mayor Mamadou Habibou Bah noted the collective mobilization for urban improvement, while Prefect Mohamed Cheick Keita urged the youth to use the nation's historical legacy to drive economic, scientific, and cultural progress.

In the Ratoma-Bonfi sector of Conakry, local leaders organized community gatherings to foster cohesion and involve young people in civic life. Sector chief Ibrahima Sory Daffé reported strong local engagement despite rain interrupting the ceremony. He highlighted the strong sense of solidarity among residents, particularly regarding support for families and women facing difficulties.
