Guinea: Detainees Aladji Cellou Camara and Aliou Bah transferred to Coyah prison

Two high-profile detainees in Guinea have been transferred to the Coyah prison.

Aladji Cellou Camara, the former Director General of the Office guinéen de publicité (OGP), was moved to Coyah following his placement under a warrant of arrest. Camara is facing legal proceedings involving allegations of corruption, embezzlement of public funds, and illicit enrichment. While several of his former collaborators have been granted provisional liberty, Camara remains in custody pending a judicial decision.

Aliou Bah, president of the Mouvement démocratique libéral (MoDeL), was also transferred from the Conakry central prison to Coyah during the night of August 15-16, 2026. Bah has been incarcerated since December 2024 and is serving a two-year sentence for defamation against President Mamadi Doumbouya. The MoDeL party has expressed concern regarding the transfer and is calling for the enforcement of a June 2026 ruling by the ECOWAS Court of Justice regarding Bah's rights.
