Guinea DGE sets financial rules for 2026 senatorial elections

The General Directorate of Elections (DGE) in Guinea has established the financial regulations for the senatorial elections scheduled for December 20, 2026. According to a decision signed by Deputy Director General Georges Abraham Sorry, each candidate is required to pay a deposit of 30 million Guinean francs (GNF).

These deposits must be made to the Public Treasury via accounts held at the Central Bank of the Republic of Guinea. Specific accounts have been designated for Conakry and each prefecture. The deposit must be completed no later than 50 days before the election date.

Additionally, the DGE has set a campaign spending cap of 300 million GNF per candidacy. Exceeding this limit is strictly prohibited and subject to sanctions under the Electoral Code. To ensure transparency, candidates must establish a dedicated electoral fund and open a campaign account with an approved banking institution to track the origin and use of all funds.
