Algassimou Diallo revoked from Guinean judiciary

Algassimou Diallo, a high-ranking magistrate and former Advocate General at the Supreme Court of Guinea, has been officially revoked from the judiciary. The decision was reached on August 20, 2026, by the disciplinary formation of the Superior Council of the Magistracy (CSM) following a request from the Minister of Justice, Ibrahima Sory II Tounkara.

The revocation follows an initial suspension and a travel ban imposed by the state. The CSM cited “serious breaches” of professional duties, including honor, delicacy, and dignity. Reports indicate the disciplinary action stems from alleged audio exchanges between Diallo and exiled opposition leader Cellou Dalein Diallo, which authorities claim involved maneuvers to destabilize Guinea based on ethnic and political considerations.

Minister Tounkara defended the measure, stating the suspension was a precautionary step taken after being informed of facts incompatible with judicial obligations. Presidential spokesperson Amara Camara also supported the decision, asserting that no one is above the law and that administrative sanctions are a standard part of governance.
