Guinea football developments: Federation elections and U15 World Cup preparations

In Guinea, the race for the presidency of the Guinean Football Federation (FGF) is entering its final stages ahead of the elective General Assembly scheduled for October 27. Former president Mamadou Antonio Souaré has emerged as a leading candidate, utilizing a grassroots strategy led by Almamy and Sampou to secure support from key electors. In contrast, the campaign of Mamady Doumbouya is facing challenges due to opposition to his list of candidates, specifically regarding the influence of Sory Doumbouya, Séga Diallo, and Bakary Diaby.

Separately, the Guinean school national team is preparing for the inaugural FIFA U15 World Cup, which will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from October 22 to 31, 2026. National coach Aly Badara Cissé stated that the team is nearly ready for the tournament's unique format, which features seven field players and unlimited substitutions. The Guinean delegation, consisting of 14 players and five staff members, will compete in a group alongside Canada, American Samoa, Singapore, Guatemala, and Honduras, with their opening match set against Canada on October 24.
