Guinea launches KONKÖE digital fishing management system
The Guinean Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Economy has officially launched the Integrated Fisheries and Maritime Economy Management System (SIGPEM), known as ‘KONKÖE’. The digital platform, which is scheduled to go into service on November 1, 2026, aims to modernize the administration of the fisheries sector by increasing transparency and simplifying administrative procedures.
Accessible via computer or mobile phone, the single-window digital platform will allow both artisanal and industrial fishing professionals to submit applications, track file processing, and manage fishing licenses and authorizations. The initiative is part of a broader national digital transformation effort under the Simandou 2040 program.
During the launch ceremony in Conakry, Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy Fatima Camara noted that the platform is designed to bridge the gap between the administration and its users, reducing traditional bureaucratic hurdles. She also highlighted the involvement of the Karity group in developing the project.
