Guinea launches mobile vocational training unit for youth
The Guinean Ministry of National Education, Literacy, Technical Education and Vocational Training has officially launched a Mobile Training Unit to bring industrial skills training directly to youth. Supported by UNICEF, the initiative aims to reach young people who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET), particularly those who are out of school or far from traditional training centers.
In the pilot phase, 41 young people are receiving practical training in two specific fields: 25 students are studying building electricity, and 16 are studying sanitary plumbing. The program utilizes a “school-site” approach, where learners apply their skills to community projects, such as electrifying classrooms at the Nongo primary school and rehabilitating latrine blocks at the Yimbaya Tannerie primary school.
