Guinea mandates 45-day civic training for 217 pardoned individuals
The Guinean Ministry of Justice and Human Rights has announced that 217 individuals granted a presidential pardon must complete a 45-day civic training and reintegration program. This requirement is based on a decree issued on October 2, 2026, and makes the completion of the program a mandatory condition for benefiting from the clemency.
The program is designed to be civic, educational, and social in nature. Its primary objectives are to strengthen knowledge of rights and duties, promote respect for institutions, and prevent recidivism. The initiative aims to prepare beneficiaries for their return to family, social, and professional life while ensuring public security and social peace.
The organization of the training is governed by a joint order issued on October 5, 2026, by the ministers of Justice and National Defense. Among those affected by the pardon is opposition figure Aliou Bah.
