Guinea prepares for 68th independence anniversary with civic and sanitation initiatives

As Guinea approaches its 68th independence anniversary on October 2, 2026, various sectors are mobilizing to demonstrate national commitment.

Bernard Pévé Béavogui, Director General of the Centre de lecture publique et d’animation culturelle (CELPAC), has called on citizens to view the nation's independence as both a historical heritage and a collective responsibility. He specifically urged the youth to avoid social ills such as drugs, corruption, and delinquency, emphasizing that true patriotism requires concrete actions toward national development.

In Conakry, the Guinean private sector is supporting government efforts to improve urban sanitation. The Confédération générale des entreprises de Guinée (CGE-G) has mobilized equipment and resources to assist field operations in the capital. Maria Diané, Secretary General of CGE-G, stated that this initiative serves as a practical expression of corporate engagement toward the country's progress, acknowledging the efforts of Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah and the Ministry of Sanitation, Hydraulics, and Hydrocarbons.
