Guinea President Mamadi Doumbouya inaugurates Transguinéen railway

Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya conducted the inaugural journey of the Transguinéen (CTG) passenger train, marking a major milestone for the Simandou project. During the trip, which covered 148 km between Morébaya and Kassa, the President traveled through an 11.6 km double-track railway tunnel near Kindia, cited as the longest railway tunnel in West Africa.

The railway is part of a larger 650 km double-track corridor designed to connect Morébaya to the four Simandou mining blocks in southern Guinea. The infrastructure includes 205 bridges, four tunnels, and the Colomo II viaduct, which measures over 2,115 meters in length.

According to the presidency, the project is a key component of the ‘Simandou 2040’ program, aimed at enhancing economic sovereignty and local resource transformation. The construction utilized Guinean expertise in line with local content strategies, and the railway's opening to the public is expected to occur progressively.
