Guinea President Mamadi Doumbouya outlines transition and development at UN

At the 81st United Nations General Assembly, Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya outlined the nation's transition and recent institutional developments. He noted that the establishment of the National Transition Council (CNT) led to a new constitution, which facilitated the election of the President and members of the National Assembly, effectively returning Guinea to constitutional order.

Key domestic initiatives mentioned include the creation of the Court for the Repression of Economic and Financial Offenses (CRIEF) to improve public finance management. Additionally, the President highlighted the Simandou Project and the ‘Simandou 2040’ program, which aims to drive prosperity through investments in economy, education, health, agriculture, and infrastructure.

In a separate civic development, activist Fodé Diakité issued an open letter to President Doumbouya regarding the 2025 Constitution. The letter emphasizes that national sovereignty belongs to the people and stresses that state power is a public responsibility rather than personal property, calling for accountability within the government.
