Guinea transport hubs see significant growth in passenger and container traffic

Guinea is experiencing significant growth in its transport and logistics sectors. Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport in Conakry reported handling 545,330 passengers in the first half of 2026, an 22.18% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Domestic traffic saw the most rapid expansion, rising nearly 64%. The airport operator, SOGEAG, noted that monthly passenger traffic exceeded 100,000 for the first time in May and June 2026.

Simultaneously, Conakry Terminal is scaling operations to meet rising maritime demand. The terminal aims to process over one million containers by 2030, following a surge in activity where 416,892 TEUs were handled in 2025. To manage this growth, Africa Global Logistics (AGL) has appointed Édouard Léno as Director General.

Infrastructure investments totaling approximately 250 million euros are underway to modernize equipment and develop the Kagbélén dry port. Planned expansions, including a new quay and 20 hectares of storage space, are expected to come online between late 2026 and early 2028 to double current capacity and alleviate logistical congestion.
