Guinean football officials announce multiple departures
The Guinean football officiating community is facing a significant crisis following the departure of three prominent referees within a two-day period.
Abdoulaye Manet, a FIFA international referee since 2020, announced the end of his career on October 29, 2026. In his statement, Manet expressed gratitude to his supporters while noting a sense of regret regarding his inability to achieve further ambitions.
Following this announcement, two other officials, Younoussa Tawel Camara and Mouctar Kollet Diallo, resigned on October 30, 2026. Camara, an international referee with 24 years of experience, submitted his resignation to the Secretary General of the Guinean Football Federation. He cited perceived injustices by the Referees Commission, stating that the environment no longer upholds the principles of impartiality, ethics, and merit.
The sudden exit of these experienced officials has raised questions regarding the governance and management of refereeing within the country.
