Guinean prison guard suspended for using detainee vehicle for civilians
A Guinean prison guard, Brigadier Mamady Oulare, has been suspended following an incident involving the misuse of an official vehicle. On October 11, 2026, while assigned to transport detainees from the Coyah detention center to the Court for the Repression of Economic and Financial Offenses (CRIEF), Oulare reportedly used the secure extraction vehicle to transport civilian passengers.
The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights characterized the act as an unauthorized use of a service vehicle for improvised public transport, violating professional ethics and security protocols. In response, authorities have issued an immediate precautionary suspension of the agent and opened a disciplinary investigation.
The Ministry also announced plans to strengthen controls on all prison convoys to prevent similar occurrences and ensure the integrity of official missions. The ongoing investigation may lead to further criminal proceedings.
