Guinean temporary workers demand civil servant status
The Collectif des Contractuels Temporaires de Guinée (CCTG) held a meeting at the Bourse du Travail in Conakry on October 31, 2026, to demand the regularization of their administrative status. The group is calling on President Mamadi Doumbouya and government authorities to transform their temporary contract status into permanent civil servant positions.
Members of the collective report working for the state for periods ranging from five to over fifteen years under precarious conditions. They claim to receive a monthly salary of 550,000 GNF, which they describe as derisory, noting a lack of bonuses, indemnities, health insurance, or social benefits.
The CCTG highlighted that their members are already enrolled in the Fichier unique de gestion administrative et de la solde (FUGAS), which they argue serves as evidence of state recognition. Despite previous attempts to contact the Prime Minister, the Minister of Modernization of Administration and the Civil Service, and the President of the National Assembly, the collective claims their requests for audiences have gone unanswered.
