Guinea's 10th Legislature opens session with new oversight doctrine

The 10th Legislature of the Republic of Guinea officially commenced its ordinary session for 2026-2027 on Monday, October 5, 2026, at the Palais du Peuple in Conakry. The opening ceremony, held under the authority of the President of the Republic, was announced by National Assembly President Dr. Dansa Kourouma.

The event includes participation from over ten foreign parliamentary delegations and will be followed by conferences and panels on parliamentary life. To mark the occasion, lawmakers were requested to wear traditional Guinean attire.

Alongside the session opening, the National Assembly is introducing a new doctrine regarding its relationship with the executive branch. Dr. Dansa Kourouma stated that parliamentary oversight will shift from simple administrative compliance to a performance-based evaluation of public policies. This new approach aims to measure the actual impact of government spending and services on the population, utilizing tools such as oral and written questions, public hearings, and parliamentary inquiry commissions to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of state actions.
