Guinness celebrates historical connection to the United States

The history of Guinness is being marked by its long-standing connection to the United States, dating back to its first recorded shipment to Charleston in 1817. In Charleston, the local connection is being celebrated through events like the Guinness Oyster Fest at Tommy Condon’s, which pairs the stout with local food culture.

Guinness national ambassador Ryan Wagner clarified several aspects of the brand, noting that the two-part pour is a technique used to ensure the proper head and taste, and that the Guinness Draught served in the U.S. is brewed at St. James’s Gate in Dublin using the same ingredients and processes as in Ireland.

In Colorado, the brand's influence is seen through both traditional imports and local craft alternatives. While Denver hosts several highly-ranked Irish pubs, local breweries like Bent Barley Brewing and Left Hand Brewing have gained recognition for producing stouts that compete with the global brand's signature texture and style.
