Guipúzcoa court sentences man to six years for Tolosa villa arson

The Provincial Court of Guipúzcoa has sentenced a man to six years in prison for arson, making threats, and three counts of minor assault following an incident in Tolosa in December 2024.

The conviction stems from an altercation at a squatted villa where the defendant lived with four other people. After a dispute regarding a cigarette, the man threatened to burn the occupants alive and set fire to curtains and a mattress. Although the initial fire was extinguished and the man was evicted, he returned the following morning and set fire to clothing, cardboard, and multiple rooms in the villa.

The defendant will serve a minimum of two years and six months in prison. The remainder of the sentence will be commuted to deportation from Spanish territory, accompanied by an eight-year ban on re-entry.
