Guitarras ao Alto festival returns to Alentejo in December

The Guitarras ao Alto festival is returning to the Alentejo region for a special edition in Crato, scheduled from December 11 to 13, 2026. After previous editions in Alentejo and recent programming in Setúbal, the event will utilize four heritage sites: the Mosteiro de Flor da Rosa, the Igreja Matriz, the Igreja de Santo António, and the Centro Cultural de Gáfete.

The lineup includes the duo Miramar, featuring guitarists Frankie Chavez and Peixe, who will perform their latest work, “Miramar III”. On December 12, the festival will host Calcutá, a project by multi-instrumentalist Teresa Castro that blends folk, ambient, and experimental sounds. Other featured acts include the project Mais Alto! and Mano a Mano performing with the Filarmónica do Crato. The festival aims to celebrate contemporary guitar music and the intangible cultural heritage of the Alentejo region.
