Guitarricadelafuente song 'La nieve' emerges as Oscar contender

Spanish singer-songwriter Álvaro Lafuente, known professionally as Guitarricadelafuente, has composed 'La nieve,' an original song for the film 'La bola negra.' The track is being discussed as a potential nominee for Best Original Song at the Academy Awards.

Directed by Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, 'La bola negra' represents Spain in the Oscar race. In addition to composing the music, Lafuente makes his acting debut in the film, portraying Sebastián, a soldier tasked with guarding Rafael Rodríguez Rapún, the final lover of poet Federico García Lorca.

Lafuente described the song as a piece that explores the contrast between life and death, noting that in the context of the film, snow symbolizes the end of a journey. The composition was inspired by the emotional themes of the movie and the poetic imagery associated with Lorca.
