Guizhou couple discovers large snake hiding inside mattress

A middle-aged couple in Guizhou Province, southwest China, discovered a large snake hiding inside their mattress after hearing mysterious rustling sounds under their bed for several days. Initially, the couple, identified by the surname Wang, believed the noises were caused by mice.

The situation escalated when the husband entered the bedroom one morning and spotted a dark shape moving near the edge of the bed. The creature, which quickly retreated into the crevices of the thick spring mattress, was identified as a snake weighing approximately 2 to 2.5 kg (4 to 5.5 lbs). To remove the animal, the husband eventually pulled the mattress out and punctured it to force the snake to emerge.

Local authorities have advised residents to remain calm when encountering snakes, maintain distance, and avoid attempting to catch or strike them. Instead, citizens should contact professional services such as firefighters or forest rangers for safe removal. Experts also suggest running in a zigzag pattern if being chased by a snake to minimize danger.
