Gujarat achieves 50.75% recovery rate for lost and stolen mobile phones

Gujarat has ranked second among major populated states in India for recovering lost and stolen mobile phones, according to data analyzed through October 26. The state achieved a recovery rate of 50.75%, significantly exceeding the national average of 37.4%.

Using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal operated by the Department of Telecommunications, Gujarat authorities have blocked 238,533 mobile handsets. Of these, 147,427 devices were traced and 74,823 were successfully returned to their original owners. This represents a 9.75 percentage point increase from the state's 41% recovery rate in October 2025.

For the first half of the 2026-27 financial year, Anand district ranked first in the state, followed by Dang district and Ahmedabad city. Local police officers from these regions were honored in a ceremony held on October 27 for their roles in implementing the portal and tracing handsets.
