Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh see spousal murders tied to alleged affairs
In Banaskantha district of Gujarat, police say a 48‑year‑old farmer, Gambhai Thakor, was killed after his wife Narmada (also known as Nababen) was discovered in an extramarital relationship with Premji Patel. According to investigators, Narmada, Patel and a third accomplice beat Thakor with a wooden plank, strangled him with a rope and attempted to stage the death as natural. The three suspects were arrested and remain in remand while police probe whether the killing was pre‑planned.
In Muradabad district of Uttar Pradesh, a woman and her 10‑year‑old son were found dead in a field. The woman's husband, her brother‑in‑law, uncle, and an alleged lover were taken into custody. The son was strangled, and the woman's throat was slashed; both victims had their faces partially burned to obscure identity. Police suspect the murders may be linked to a purported illicit relationship and are continuing the investigation.
