The Food and Drug Regulation Administration in Gujarat has seized suspected adulterated ghee and oil worth over 35 lakh rupees following raids in Surat and Banaskantha districts. The operations were conducted under directives from Health Minister Praful Pansheriya to combat food adulteration.
In Surat, officials raided Keval Food Product at the Hindva Dream Industrial Estate. The facility was reportedly operating without a valid license and was manufacturing and packaging fake ghee while appearing locked from the outside. Authorities seized 5,157 liters of ghee branded as ‘Shree Anmol Ratan Cow Ghee’, valued at 26.12 lakh rupees, along with 1,485 kg of palm oil and 285 kg of soybean oil used for adulteration.
In the Banaskantha district, raids in Deesa led to the seizure of 987 liters of suspected adulterated ghee valued at approximately 6.22 lakh rupees. Samples from all seized products have been sent to laboratories for testing under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. Legal action will proceed based on the laboratory findings.
