Gujarat CM lays foundation for Rs 125-crore ISKCON temple in Surat
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel laid the foundation stone for a proposed Rs 125-crore ISKCON temple at Kosmada in the Surat district. During the ceremony, which included a Narsingh Yagna, Patel emphasized the importance of linking spiritual teachings with humanitarian service, youth empowerment, and nation-building.
Patel noted that the project aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Virasat Bhi, Vikas Bhi,” which seeks to preserve India’s cultural and spiritual heritage alongside modern development. He referenced the teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, suggesting that principles such as self-knowledge and selfless action could provide an ethical foundation for society and strengthen families.
The Chief Minister also called for religious institutions to play a role in keeping youth away from addiction by channeling their energy toward constructive activities. The event included a felicitation programme to honor donors contributing to the project and was attended by several state ministers and officials.
