Gujarat desert zoological park and night safari receives CZA approval
The Central Zoo Authority (CZA) has approved the development of a desert-themed zoological park and night safari at Juna Deesa in the Banaskantha district of North Gujarat. Described as Asia’s first desert-themed drive-through night safari, the project is being developed by the Gujarat Forest Department on approximately 103 hectares of government land.
The project has an estimated cost of Rs 542.14 crore. It is designed to house roughly 2,700 native and exotic animals and birds across nearly 83 species. Beyond tourism, officials stated the facility will serve as a center for conservation breeding, wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and environmental education.
Forest and Environment Minister Arjun Modhwadia confirmed the project adheres to CZA guidelines. Minister of State Pravin Mali noted that the initiative aims to strengthen wildlife conservation while promoting ecotourism and creating employment opportunities within the North Gujarat region.
