Gujarat districts win PMDDKY excellence awards

Three districts in Gujarat—Kutch, Dahod, and Chhota Udepur—have received national excellence awards under the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY). The awards mark the completion of the first year of the scheme, which was launched in 2025 to support 100 districts with high agricultural potential but low productivity and economic growth.

During a ceremony in New Delhi organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan presented the awards. Kutch was recognized for excellence in governance and service delivery. Dahod and Chhota Udepur received awards for their outstanding performance in improving irrigation infrastructure, which is vital for sustainable agriculture in hilly and tribal regions.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel congratulated the district administrations, noting that increased irrigation capacity and improved water supply have led to significant enhancements in agricultural productivity and output in these areas.
