Gujarat establishes new medical board at Sola GMERS Hospital

The Gujarat government has established a new three-member Permanent Medical Board at Sola GMERS Hospital in Ahmedabad. This initiative, approved by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Praful Pansheriya, is designed to reduce the workload on the Permanent Medical Board at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital.

The new board will facilitate the issuance of medical certificates required for transfers or cadre changes on medical grounds. Specifically, Class-III employees of the Education Department—including primary and secondary school teachers, Vidya Sahayaks, and Assistant Teachers—and Class-III and Class-IV employees of the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) will be eligible to use this facility.

Employees from the districts of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Banaskantha, and Surendranagar will have their medical examinations conducted by the Sola GMERS board. For GSRTC employees in the Ahmedabad, Mehsana, Himmatnagar, and Palanpur divisions, the board will assist with cadre changes. Following examinations, the board will issue permanent ‘Fit’ or ‘Unfit’ certificates.
