Gujarat Floods Displace Residents as Heavy Rains Swamp Sabarkantha and Vadodara

In Sabarkantha district of Gujarat, intense monsoon rain produced up to two inches of precipitation in Idar and nearby talukas, leading to flash flooding, water‑logged roads, damage to homes and a car swept away by a powerful current. Local officials reported water levels reaching waist height in several villages and warned that more rain is expected in the coming days.

In Vadodara’s Dhantej village, similar heavy rain caused water to rise to waist‑deep levels, turning streets into streams and stranding vehicles. The state weather department has issued a red‑alert for additional heavy rain and urged residents to avoid flooded areas and seek safe shelter.
