Gujarat government increases travel allowance for Gram Sevaks
The Gujarat government has raised the monthly travel allowance for approximately 2,900 Gram Sevaks working under the Agriculture Department. The allowance will increase from Rs 1,850 to Rs 2,700, an increase of Rs 850 following requests from the workers.
The decision was finalized during a state Cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. Officials noted that the increase is necessary due to the expanding field responsibilities of Gram Sevaks, who serve as a vital link between the state government and the farming community.
Key duties for these workers include conducting digital surveys via mobile applications to estimate crop acreage, completing e-KYC formalities for the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, and assisting farmers during natural disasters. They also support agricultural fairs, minimum support price procurement, and natural farming campaigns.
