Gujarat grants property tax exemptions for soldiers' village houses
The Gujarat State Government has amended the ‘Gujarat Gram and Nagar Panchayats Taxes and Fees Rules, 1964’ to provide property tax exemptions for specific groups of military personnel.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the decision grants an exemption from ‘Panchayat Tax’ on one residential property owned or occupied by eligible beneficiaries within the limits of a Gram Panchayat. The beneficiaries include serving defence personnel and their spouses, former soldiers, and widows of soldiers who died in service.
The measure is intended to provide direct financial relief and support the welfare of military families while acknowledging their service and sacrifice to the nation.
