Gujarat High Court rejects remission plea in ex-MP murder case

The Gujarat High Court has dismissed a remission plea filed by Iqbal Hussain Dhobi, a convict in the 1992 murder of former Congress MP Rauf Valiullah. Dhobi, who was sentenced to life imprisonment by a special TADA court in 2007, challenged the state government's decision to deny his application for remission.

In its ruling, the court noted that the petitioner was part of a syndicate involved in unlawful activities. The court observed that Valiullah was killed because he was actively pursuing the conviction of accused individuals in another murder case. This decision follows a similar rejection of a remission plea by another co-accused in the same case.
