Gujarat implements school security protocols and infrastructure upgrades

The Gujarat government has introduced new security mandates for schools to protect student privacy and safety. According to a circular from the Office of the Commissioner of Schools, outsiders are now required to obtain prior written permission from school principals to enter premises. Institutional heads are authorized to deny entry if a visitor's presence threatens security, discipline, or the academic environment. Additionally, the Education Department has prohibited the unauthorized collection or circulation of students' personal data, including photographs and videos, to safeguard their dignity and privacy.

Parallel to these security measures, the state is seeing a shift in educational trends due to infrastructure improvements. In the Ahmedabad district, 4,817 students transitioned from private to government schools for the 2025–26 academic year. Initiatives like the ‘Mission Schools of Excellence’ have introduced modern facilities such as smart classrooms, robotics laboratories, and science and mathematics labs to public institutions, aiming to enhance interactive learning and student engagement.
