GMDC pays Rs 223.54 crore dividend to Gujarat government

The Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC) has presented a dividend cheque of Rs 223.54 crore to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel for the 2025-26 financial year. The payment, representing the state government's share, was handed over by Chief Secretary M K Das in Gandhinagar.

Established in 1963, GMDC is a state-owned undertaking involved in mining and selling minerals such as lignite, bauxite, limestone, fluorspar, and silica sand. To bolster Gujarat's long-term energy security, the corporation has secured three coal blocks in Odisha: Baitarani West, Burapahar, and Kudanali-Lubri.

Beyond traditional mining, GMDC is expanding into renewable energy and exploring opportunities in strategic minerals, including copper and rare earth elements.
