Gujarat Minister orders action over missing hospital water tank

Gujarat Health Minister Praful Pansheriya has ordered a police complaint and disciplinary action following the discovery of financial irregularities at a hospital in Palitana, Bhavnagar district. An investigation revealed that a bill for Rs 50.43 lakh was submitted for the construction of a 2.55 lakh-litre underground water tank, yet the tank was never built at the designated site.

In response, the minister directed that a police complaint be lodged against In-Charge Executive Engineer Mehul Dave and Deputy Executive Engineer N. V. Kaliya for submitting the bill. Additionally, the Project Implementation Unit has been instructed to initiate proceedings to blacklist Dharmanandan Construction, a contractor based in Surat. The minister also called for the engineers to be relieved of their duties, with potential suspension or dismissal pending further proceedings.
